Once well cleaned and cooked, quinoa is very versatile and can be used in many recipes. You can accompany it with sautéed vegetables, vegetable protein, spices, herbs … It is a great base for any dish.

Wash the quinoa well until the water runs clear (photo 1).

In a saucepan, add the water (photo 2) and when it starts to boil, add the soy sauce or tamari (photo 3), stir and add the quinoa (photo 4).

Let it boil for about 2 minutes, lower over medium heat, cover and cook for about 10-15 minutes or until it has absorbed all the water (photo 5). If the water runs out and the quinoa is still tough, add a little more.

Serve immediately.

Advice:

The quinoa is cooked when it is al dente (like pasta) and the grain becomes transparent except for the edges.

To cook it, you normally need twice as much liquid as quinoa (if you use 1 cup of quinoa you will need 2 cups of water), although it can vary depending on the type of quinoa you use.

To give it more flavor, you can add some ingredients to the cooking water, such as sea salt, soy or tamari sauce, lemon juice, vinegar, spices, herbs, etc.

What is quinoa?

Quinoa is technically a seed, but having properties that are generally attributed to cereals, it is considered a pseudocereal.

Although it has to be washed well before cooking to eliminate saponins, quinoa is a very beneficial superfood for our body. It has great nutritional value and is rich in good quality plant protein, fiber, minerals and vitamins.

How long does the quinoa hold?

It is important to store the cooked quinoa in an airtight container in the fridge so that it will hold and retain all its properties for 4-5 days.
